Now here’s a creation that looks to be quite useful – that is if you are a rescue worker. It’s called the Braun Post-Disaster Emergency Foot Protective Accessory. It’s a big name for something with a big purpose. It is for rescue workers who are on scene of disasters like earthquakes.

Due to the rubble, and dangerous topography after such calamities, the feet of the rescue workers are most vulnerable and susceptible to injury and infection. Shards of glass, nails, debris etc. can hamper the mission and walking over them always poses a threat.

Enter the Braun Post-Disaster Emergency Foot Protective Accessory: These handy contraptions fit snugly over the workers shoes and protect their feet from accidental nips and cuts. Thanks to its sturdy structure the rescue worker can complete the job confidently, knowing their feet are protected. It’s a two-part thing with a steel and silica gel insole and an over-the-shoe strap-up.

I’d like to comment on one other thing that I noticed about designer Huang Zheng and his creation. Too many people think that in order for you to qualify as a creator, or for your creations to qualify as being creations that they must necessarily be something big in scope. Meaning they have to have huge appeal, with broad recognition. That simply is not the case.

The Braun Post-Disaster Emergency Foot Protective Accessory isn’t something that has mass appeal, neither is it something that is universally useful, but it qualifies as a creation (quite well done I might add) and Huang Zheng qualifies as a creator.

The fact that you create qualifies you as a creator, and what you create is unarguably a creation. Stop selling your creations short, and give yourself, the creator, some credit. Once you get started creating you never know what useful and handy creations with big purposes that you will create.

Designer: Huang Zheng

The .mp3 is to music what .dos was to Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs took the ball and ran with it. My hats off to the creators of the entire iPod family. This new design for the iPiano is crazy cool.

My older brother had the dream of becoming a concert pianist. One of my fondest memories of growing up was the countless hours of fine piano music that I heard as he practiced in our living room. There is nothing like live piano music.

Take the iPiano that can display your music, turn your pages, and if your not a concert pianist it will even teach you how to play! If that’s not cool enough the iPiano stores and displays your electronic music scores – no more fumbling for sheetmusic under your piano bench. It’s all displayed on the center screen, and it’s even a touch screen at that. And if you’re into composing music, this little beauty can record what you play as well!

Most anything really. This Blog post is a creation. The blank stare on your face is a creation.

The definition of the word “create” is to bring into existence. So a creation is something that was brought into existence.

It wasn’t there, but now it is – a creation.

Actually that is the basics. But right now I’d like to get a little deeper into it.

There are many different kinds of creations. There are creations that are tangible, as well as creations that intangible. There are creations that last for a second, and creations that will last for eternity. There are creations that are very tiny and creations that gigantic.

Let’s talk about a few of kinds of creations that perhaps you haven’t thought about before.

The ongoing creation creation. This blog would be an example of the ongoing creation creation. It never ends. Every day I am adding to it, tweaking it, and updating it. How many ongoing creation creations can you think of?

The fleeting moment creation. These kinds of creations happen every day. A smile, a kind or unkind word, or greeting. The fleeting moment creation often is overlooked, or discounted on how truly powerful and important it can be. Many wars have been fought over fleeting moment creations. Many lives have been eternally altered by fleeting moment creations. They may come into existence for only a fleeting moment but they sure do carry a wallop.

The destruction creation. Sometimes destruction can lead to powerful, ominous, even earth shattering creations that affect the lives of millions, perhaps even billions. I bet the Taliban had no idea what they were creating the day of 9-11. But even on a smaller scale how many enemies are created by destructive actions or words of another. Divorce, murder, hatred are life altering creations brought about by the destruction creation.

A true creator’s creation. The difference between many of the creations that I have spoken of in this article and that of a true creator is that a true creator consciously creates creations with purpose, whereas many of the other creations that I have described were creations brought into existence by creators that relegated their power of creation to external forces and laws.
True creators consciously create creations they want to create. If they want a better relationship with their spouse they create circumstances and opportunities that support and build their relationship. If they desire to solve a problem they set out to bring into existence creations that directly or indirectly solve the problem. Creator’s create creations of value and importance.

This list is just a beginning. There are many other kinds of creations.

I would love to hear your ideas. Please share with me your thoughts on the subject.

I have experienced a roller coaster of a life myself and know full well that these are definitely tumultuous times.

With the economy in turmoil, the government in disarray and the outlook doesn’t look like its getting better any time soon. It even appears close to impossible to experience any kind of success or happiness during such depressing times.

If you listen to the news media the only thing you’ll hear is how horrible everything is. Both sides of the isle are just as bad too. There are naysayers, doom-and-gloom prognosticators, and out and out pessimists galore. You almost can’t turn on your radio or TV without hearing the endless babble of how bad things are.

Winds are blowing one way today, and everyone is saying this is the way you should be investing your time, or money, or efforts, only to wake up tomorrow to winds that blow the opposite direction.

What’s a person to do? Is there any hope? Where are the answers? The face of our society is changing at an ever increasing pace, never to be the same again. What can be done?

I don’t know the answers to all these questions.

I’m not even going to take a stab at what I think you should do with your money, or your career, or which way you should vote – that my friend, is up to you to choose.

But one thing I can do is help you see your way through it all.

Just the other day I was standing in line at the bank, and a young mother walked in with her two boys. I could tell that the boys had been to this bank before because they b-lined directly to the big Tinker Toys in the corner.

Almost immediately they began to create. I stood there watching them in amazement. Without having to be coerced, or directed, or taught they set to creating things with those toys.

Many would call it play, but I would like to call it creation.

I would like you to open your eyes to the world around you. Have you ever noticed that every one of the ugly things I listed above is the absolute opposite of creation? They are all about reaction.

The Economy is failing – what is the government going to do? Reaction. You may lose your job – what are you going to do? Reaction. There is Global Warming – what are we going to do? Reaction. The News Media just told of a terrible event. Reaction. The Radio Talk Show Host is spitting mad at world events. Reaction. Reaction! Reaction!!!

Stop!

I am absolutely certain that reaction is not the answer.

Creators create. Creators don’t react – but they create. Do you understand?

All the greatest creations that have ever been created on this earth were created by powerful creators – even against great odds. But not a single one of them was brought into existence by reaction.

Creation and reaction are diametrically opposed forces. Here is the definition of Diametrically Opposed:

Two points directly opposite each other on a circle or sphere. More formally, two points are diametrically opposed if they are on opposite ends of a diameter.

This is what gets us all confused about creation and reaction. They are both on the same sphere. So in the sphere of things (little play on words) we tend to either create, or react – but not both.

Unfortunately, most people have been conditioned to react. I believe that we each come into this world with an innate characteristic, and that is we are each by nature of our very existence creators.

Take for example those two boys who immediately began to create when they walked into the bank. Their mother didn’t have to stand over them and tell them how to do it. They didn’t even communicate with each other – they just directly began to create.

It was pleasing. It was fun. Like I said, some people call it play. But whatever you call it – it was creation. Natural, innate, good clean creation.

But society has conditioned us to be reactors. Our parents tell us from very young, “stop that, don’t do this, don’t do that, there’s no time, it’s too hard, there’s not enough, you can’t, don’t say that, give up, give in, can’t, etc.” Which are all in some form or another reactions. But none of this barrage is creation.

So from very young we are conditioned to be reactors, and our innate ability and desire to be creators is slowly pushed away, put away, or destroyed.

But, like I pointed out earlier – absolutely every great creation that has ever graced this earth was brought into existence (created) by the act of creation – NOT by reaction.

How is the Government dealing with the woes that it is facing? Reaction. How are the Radio Talk Show Hosts dealing with all the issues? Reaction. How is the News Media dealing with all that is happening? Reaction.

So let me ask you this. How are you going to deal with your life? How are you going to make your life better? How are you going to bump yourself up to the next level?

Reaction?

I certainly hope not.
